The Sealey AK321 is a versatile 17-piece metric tap and die set ideal for automotive enthusiasts, DIY mechanics, and hobbyists needing to restore or create precision threads. This set covers metric sizes from M3 to M12.
Yes, a metric thread gauge is included in the set to help identify pitch.
No, this set is intended for general maintenance and light-duty repair, not for high-tensile or hardened industrial steel.
Always wipe clean after use and apply a light coating of oil to prevent oxidation during storage.
The die holder is designed to securely fit the dies included in the set using retention screws.
It is suitable for light mechanical repairs, but heavy-duty, high-volume professional daily use may require industrial-grade tooling.
Ensure the tap is perfectly perpendicular to the surface and use a small amount of cutting lubricant to reduce friction.
Check that the retention screws are fully tightened and properly seated in the die's indentation.
Check if the tap or die is dull, ensure you are using enough lubricant, and verify you are using the correct pitch for the bolt or hole.
To begin using the set, select the appropriate tap or die based on your thread pitch measurement using the included gauge. When using the tap wrench, ensure the sliding jaw is tightened firmly around the tap shank to prevent slippage. After use, clean each tool with a dry cloth to remove metal shavings and apply a light coating of machine oil before placing them back into the storage case. This prevents rust and ensures the precision edges remain sharp for your next project. Store in a cool, dry place away from extreme moisture.
