Setup, Compatibility & Care
Preparation: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, or old finishes. For best results, the surface should be sound and previously finished or sealed.
Compatibility: Suitable for wood, metal, gilt, plaster, tone, MDF, and papier-mâché. Test on an inconspicuous area first, especially on delicate materials or previously unknown finishes.
Application: Apply sparingly using a brush, cloth, or fine steel wool. Work the wax into the surface, paying attention to details and contours. For a lighter effect, wipe off excess immediately. For a deeper effect, allow to dry and apply further thin coats. The wax dries in approximately 5 minutes.
Finishing: For enhanced durability and sheen, a subsequent topcoat of clear wax or a suitable varnish is recommended after the patinating wax has fully cured.
Tool Care: Clean brushes, cloths, and steel wool immediately after use with white spirit.
