Can I use lead other than 0.5mm?

Troubleshooting

Lead is not advancing

Check the internal reservoir for broken lead pieces that may be jamming the mechanism. Tap the pencil gently or clear the tip with a thin wire.

Lead keeps breaking

Ensure you are not advancing the lead too far out of the sleeve; only advance 0.5mm to 1mm for writing.

Eraser is loose

Ensure the eraser is firmly seated in the metal collet. If it has worn down, replace it with an official Pentel jumbo refill.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To begin using your Pentel e-sharp, remove the protective cap and click the top button to advance the lead. To refill, pull the top eraser assembly out to expose the lead reservoir. Insert new 0.5mm leads into the tube, being careful not to overfill to prevent jamming. The pencil is compatible with standard 0.5mm HB lead refills. For care, store the pencil in a cool, dry place. If the rubber grip becomes dusty, wipe it with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth and allow it to air dry fully before use to maintain its tactile finish.
