Westland The Gardeners Multi-Purpose Compost 46L - 70% Peat, Enriched 4-5 Weeks Feed

The main advantage is its enriched formula that nourishes plants for 4-5 weeks, combined with excellent moisture retention due to its high peat content.

This is a general-purpose compost and is not specifically formulated for acid-loving plants, which typically require a lower pH. For such plants, consider a specialized compost like Westland ericaceous compost.

The 'feed' refers to the initial nutrient content within the compost, designed to support plant growth for approximately 4 to 5 weeks after planting.

Yes, it can be used for starting seeds, providing a good base for germination and early seedling growth. Ensure consistent moisture and adequate light.

It is primarily a peat-based blend, containing 70% peat, along with nutrients and potentially wood or paper components.

Store the bag in a cool, dry place, protected from extreme temperatures and moisture. Keep it sealed to maintain its quality.

As it is an enriched compost and contains 'wood or paper', it may not meet strict organic certification standards depending on the source and processing of these additives. Always check specific organic guidelines if this is a primary concern.

This could indicate a need for additional nutrients after the initial 4-5 week feed. Consider applying a suitable liquid fertilizer or slow-release granules according to plant needs.

Ensure containers have adequate drainage holes. If the compost feels too dry, water thoroughly until moisture penetrates the entire volume. If too wet, consider mixing in perlite or grit to improve drainage for future applications.

This can sometimes occur in damp conditions. Ensure good air circulation around plants and avoid overwatering. Scrape away any visible surface mold if necessary; it is often harmless but can indicate excessive moisture.
