Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup: Upon receiving the bike, it is recommended to have a professional bike mechanic perform a final assembly and safety check. This ensures all components are correctly installed and adjusted for optimal performance and safety. Key checks include brake adjustment, gear indexing, and torque settings on critical bolts.
Compatibility: The Roscoe 8 is designed to accommodate standard mountain bike components. Tire clearance is generous, supporting up to 2.6" width. Suspension fork compatibility follows industry standards for steerer tubes and axle spacing.
Care and Maintenance:
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the bike, especially after riding in wet or muddy conditions. Use a mild soap and water solution with a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid high-pressure washers, which can force water into bearings.
- Drivetrain: Keep the chain clean and lubricated. Apply a suitable chain lubricant regularly, especially after washing or riding in wet conditions. Check for wear on the chain, cassette, and chainring.
- Brakes: Periodically check brake pad wear and rotor condition. Ensure brake levers feel firm and consistent. For hydraulic brakes, avoid contamination of rotors and pads.
- Suspension: Refer to the RockShox manual for specific maintenance intervals for the 35 Gold fork. Generally, keeping stanchions clean and free of debris is important. Consider an annual service by a qualified technician.
- Tires: Maintain proper tire pressure as recommended for the tire size and riding conditions. Inspect tires for cuts or damage.
