Setup, Compatibility & Care
Sewing Recommendations:
- Needle: Use a new, heavy universal needle (size 90/14 or larger) for best results. A specialist needle for heavier fabrics may also be beneficial.
- Thread: A good quality polyester thread is recommended for durability.
- Cutting: Ensure your cutting mat and rotary cutter are sharp, or use sharp fabric scissors.
- Pressing: Use a medium heat setting on your iron and press from the wrong side (plain side) of the fabric to avoid damaging the print or melting the wadding. A pressing cloth is advisable.
Compatibility:
This fabric is compatible with standard sewing machines capable of handling heavier materials. It pairs well with other medium to heavy-weight linings or interfacings if extra structure is desired, though its inherent quilting provides significant body.
Care Instructions:
- Washing: Machine wash cold or at a low temperature (e.g., 30°C / 86°F) on a gentle cycle.
- Drying: Tumble dry on low heat or air dry. Avoid high heat, which can damage the wadding.
- Ironing: Iron on a medium heat setting from the reverse side only. Do not bleach.
- Dry Cleaning: Professional dry cleaning is an option but not typically required for most home sewing applications.
