DC Fix sticky back plastic designs are authentic and realistic, making them a convincing alternative to real wood or stone. This versatile vinyl film can be used to rejuvenate worktops, cover kitchen doors, and customize furniture like drawer fronts or wardrobe doors, offering a cost-effective way to update your living space. As a non-permanent DIY solution, it's ideal for tenants or landlords seeking a quick and reversible update. The vinyl can be removed with ease, and any residue can be cleaned with warm soapy water. DC Fix features a water-based, low-tack adhesive that allows for repositioning during application, unlike stronger solvent-based adhesives. This means you can simply peel back and start again if needed. The vinyl boasts a 5-star rating for adhesion, lightfastness, shrinkage, and durability. It is heat resistant up to 75°C, making it suitable for surfaces that may experience moderate heat, but hot pans should be kept at least 12 inches away from naked flames. For application, it is recommended to use a DC Fix application kit, which includes a cutting tool and aids in smoothing the vinyl without damage. Overlapping the film by a few millimeters is advised when joining sections on surfaces like worktops to account for potential shrinkage. The vinyl can be applied around sinks by cutting out the sink area and trimming excess material. A handy grid on the backing paper serves as a cutting guide. For curved surfaces or tricky edges, a hairdryer can be used to warm and make the vinyl more pliable. Shaker-style doors can be covered by cutting each section separately and overlapping joins. Aftercare involves wiping clean with regular household cleaner; avoid scrubbing and wipe spillages immediately to prevent staining.
