FAQs

How often should I apply the spray?

Reapply the spray as needed, typically every few days, or when the stain fades.

Is Stockholm Tar safe for all birds?

While generally safe, it's always recommended to test on a small area first to check for any adverse reactions.

Can I use this on a bird with a wound?

Yes, it can help disguise the injury and deter further pecking, but it's not a substitute for proper veterinary care.

How do I remove the black stain?

The stain will naturally fade over time as the feathers grow. You may consult with a vet for suggestions on cleaning, if needed, but it is typically not recommended.

What if my bird accidentally ingests the spray?

Monitor your bird for any unusual behavior and contact a veterinarian immediately if you have concerns.

Does this product address the cause of pecking?

No, it addresses the symptom (pecking), not the root cause. You may need to address boredom, overcrowding, or dietary issues.

Troubleshooting

Bird is still pecking after application.

Reapply the spray. Also, consider addressing the root cause of the pecking, such as boredom or overcrowding.

Stain is too visible or spreading.

Reduce the amount of spray used or apply it more sparingly. Ensure the spray does not come into contact with surfaces other than the bird's feathers.
