FAQs
Can this shade be used in a bathroom?
This shade is intended for interior dry spaces only and should not be used in high-humidity areas like bathrooms.
Does this shade come with a light bulb?
No, the light bulb is not included. The shade is compatible with standard ES or BC fittings.
What is the maximum bulb wattage recommended?
For safety and to prevent damage to the PVC lining, use a low-wattage LED bulb (typically 10W-15W equivalent).
How do I switch between pendant and lamp use?
The integrated 2-way reversible gimble can be flipped by sliding it out of its housing and reversing its orientation.
Is the shade flame retardant?
Yes, the materials are treated to meet safety standards for residential lighting fixtures.
Can I wash the fabric if it gets stained?
No, the fabric is not machine washable or water-resistant. Use a soft, dry brush to remove dust.
Troubleshooting
Shade sits crooked on the lamp base
Check that the gimble is fully seated on the lamp holder and ensure the retaining ring is tightened evenly.
Light is too dim
The frosted PVC lining softens light intensity; consider using a higher-lumen LED bulb to compensate for the light absorption.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Dual-purpose design works for pendants and lamp bases
- High-quality jacquard texture adds depth to home decor
- Easy to install on standard fitting types
- Frosted interior effectively eliminates harsh glare
Cons
- Not suitable for use with high-wattage heat-producing bulbs
- Requires careful handling to avoid creasing the PVC lining
- Fixed 45cm diameter may be too large for small bedside lamps
Setup, Compatibility & Care
Installation is straightforward due to the reversible gimble, which allows you to flip the orientation of the ring to suit either a ceiling suspension cord or a lamp base harp. To install, simply unscrew the retaining ring of your existing light fitting, place the shade onto the holder, and secure it back in place. For compatibility, the shade accepts standard BC (B22) or ES (E27) lamp holders by using the included reducer ring if necessary. To maintain the shade's appearance, dust the exterior fabric lightly with a dry microfiber cloth. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners or water, as these can compromise the lamination of the fabric and the structural integrity of the frosted PVC inner.
