The Switzer Engine Transverse Support Bar is designed for automotive technicians and DIY enthusiasts who need a reliable way to suspend an engine during critical maintenance tasks. Its primary benefit is the provision of a stable, adjustable platform that prevents engine movement during jobs like gearbox removal or mount replacements, though users should note it requires a vehicle with compatible fender edges to mount securely.

It is designed to be universal, but it requires a solid, load-bearing metal edge on the fender to sit securely.
The bar is engineered for standard passenger vehicle engines; consult your vehicle manual for the exact engine weight before use.
The feet are fitted with rubber padding to protect your paint, but it is recommended to place a thin microfiber cloth under the feet for extra protection.
No, the bar features manual wing nuts and adjustment handles that can be operated by hand.
While durable, it is best practice to keep the engine suspended only while actively performing repairs to ensure safety.
Clean the rubber feet and the fender edge with a degreaser to improve grip and ensure the weight is distributed evenly.
Reposition the sliding mounts on the main beam or use secondary heavy-duty steel lifting chains to bridge the distance.
Before installation, ensure that your vehicle's fender rails are clean and free of debris. Place the rubber-padded feet of the support bar on the most structurally sound parts of the inner fender lips. Adjust the width of the bar to ensure it is centered, then hook the support chains into the engine's designated lifting points. Gradually tighten the wing nuts until the engine load is fully transferred to the bar. For maintenance, periodically inspect the threaded rods for signs of wear and keep the threads lubricated with a light machine oil to ensure smooth operation. Store the tool in a dry location to prevent corrosion.
