Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Site Selection: Choose a level location for installation. For fence lines, ensure posts are aligned with your desired boundary.
- Post Installation: Dig holes appropriate for the desired depth (typically 1/3 of the post's length for stability). Place the post in the hole, ensuring it is plumb (vertical) using a spirit level.
- Backfilling: Firmly backfill the hole with soil, tamping down as you go to secure the post. For added stability in fencing applications, consider using gravel at the base of the hole before backfilling with soil.
- Attachment: If used for fencing, attach wire, netting, or panels securely to the posts using appropriate fixings like U-nails or screws.
Compatibility:
These posts are compatible with most standard fencing accessories, including wire mesh, netting, timber panels, and various types of fixings. They are suitable for use in direct ground contact due to their HC4 treatment.
Care:
To maximize the lifespan of your wooden posts:
- Regular Inspection: Periodically check for any signs of significant damage or wear.
- Ground Contact: Ensure the base of the post remains in stable contact with the ground. Avoid prolonged waterlogging around the base if possible.
- Re-treatment (Optional): While HC4 treatment is robust, for exceptionally harsh environments or extended longevity, re-application of a suitable wood preservative every few years can be considered, focusing on the exposed top section.
