Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Site Selection: Choose a location that provides adequate support without damaging the plant's root system. For tree staking, aim for a distance of at least 12 inches from the trunk.
- Angling: For optimal stability, particularly for trees, angle the stake at approximately 45 degrees into the prevailing wind direction.
- Installation: Use a hammer or mallet to drive the pointed end of the stake about 5-6 inches into the ground. Ensure it is firmly seated.
- Securing: If using for tree support, tie the tree loosely to the stake with a suitable tie (e.g., buckle tie), avoiding overtightening.
Compatibility:
These stakes are compatible with most common garden ties, wires, and fencing materials. They are suitable for use in various soil types but perform best when driven into firm ground.
Care:
While HC4 pressure treatment significantly enhances durability, periodic inspection for any signs of wear or damage is recommended. Keep the area around the base of the stake clear of excessive debris to maintain airflow. No specific ongoing maintenance is required for the stakes themselves; their longevity is inherent in their treatment and material.
