No, this cord is designed for utility and camping purposes and is not rated for rock climbing or life-safety support.
The paracord features a 9-strand core that provides a weight-bearing capacity of up to 550lb (250kg).
Yes, you can cut it to any length required for your specific needs, but remember to seal the cut ends with heat to prevent fraying.
Simply rinse it with clean water and allow it to air dry completely in a shaded area away from direct, harsh sunlight.
Nylon paracord has a slight amount of natural elasticity, which can be useful for keeping tension on tent lines, but it is relatively static compared to dedicated bungee cords.
Apply a small flame to the cut end for a few seconds to melt and fuse the nylon fibers together.
Use a fid or a small screwdriver to gently pry the center of the knot to loosen the tension.
To ensure the longevity of your Trekmates Paracord, always store it dry; while the nylon is resistant to rot, keeping it free of mud and debris will prevent unnecessary wear. When cutting the cord to a desired length, it is recommended to use a sharp knife or heavy-duty scissors, followed immediately by lightly melting the ends with a lighter to prevent the nylon core from fraying. Always inspect the cord for signs of fraying or UV degradation after prolonged exposure to harsh sunlight, and replace it if the outer sheath shows significant thinning.
