The Marshalltown M455 Pointing Trowel is designed for masons and DIY enthusiasts undertaking masonry work, offering superior strength and comfort for precise application of mortar. Its primary benefit lies in its forged steel construction, ensuring durability and consistent performance. A potential caveat is the specialized nature of pointing trowels, requiring some user familiarity for optimal results.

A pointing trowel is primarily used for applying mortar into joints, especially for repairing or finishing brickwork and stonework.
The DuraSoft handle provides a comfortable, shock-absorbing grip that reduces hand fatigue during prolonged use, making tasks less strenuous.
While effective for all skill levels, beginners may benefit from practicing on less critical areas to get accustomed to the precise control required for pointing.
A forged steel blade is exceptionally strong and durable, meaning it's less likely to bend or break and will hold its shape and edge for longer periods.
Always clean the blade thoroughly with water after each use and dry it completely before storing to prevent rust and maintain its performance.
This trowel is designed for precise, smaller-scale mortar application. For larger areas of plastering, a larger plastering trowel would be more appropriate.
Ensure the blade is clean and dry before use. Applying a thin layer of vegetable oil can sometimes help prevent sticking, though cleaning thoroughly afterwards is essential.
Clean the DuraSoft handle with a damp cloth and mild soap if necessary. Ensure your hands are clean and dry when using the tool.
Inspect the blade for any chips or bends. Minor wear is normal, but significant damage may require replacement of the trowel.
This trowel requires no specific setup beyond ensuring it is clean and dry before use. It is compatible with all standard masonry mortars and grouts. To care for your Marshalltown M455, always clean the blade thoroughly with water immediately after each use to prevent mortar from hardening on the steel. Wipe the blade dry before storing. Avoid exposing the DuraSoft handle to harsh chemicals or prolonged immersion in water. Store in a dry place to maintain its condition and prevent rust.
