FAQs

Is Cardalis safe for all dog breeds?

Cardalis is designed for dogs with congestive heart failure, but it must be prescribed by a veterinarian based on an individual physical exam and cardiac diagnostic testing.

Can I split the tablets if my dog needs a smaller dose?

Only split tablets if your veterinarian has specifically instructed you to do so; otherwise, stick to the prescribed dosage strength.

How long will my dog need to take Cardalis?

Congestive heart failure is a chronic condition, so Cardalis is typically intended for long-term, daily use as directed by your vet.

What should I do if my dog accidentally eats too many tablets?

Contact your veterinarian or an emergency animal poison control center immediately, as overdose can be life-threatening.

Does Cardalis cure heart failure?

Cardalis manages the symptoms and helps support heart function, but it does not cure the underlying structural disease.

Troubleshooting

Dog refuses to eat the chewable tablet

Try hiding the tablet inside a small piece of cheese, a pill pocket, or a spoonful of wet dog food to mask the taste.

Dog shows signs of lethargy or weakness after starting the medication

Contact your veterinarian immediately to report the symptoms, as they may need to adjust the dosage or review the treatment plan.

Missed a daily dose

Give the missed dose as soon as you remember, unless it is very close to the next scheduled dose. Never double up on doses.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Consultation: This medication must only be used under the direction of a veterinarian who has diagnosed the specific stage of heart failure.
Storage: Keep the tablets in their original packaging in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.
Safety: Keep the container tightly closed and out of reach of children and other pets, as accidental ingestion can be dangerous.
Regular Monitoring: Schedule routine check-ups with your veterinarian to assess cardiac health and adjust dosages if necessary.
Documentation: Keep a record of the dog's weight, as dosage is often weight-dependent and may change as the dog's condition or health status evolves.
