The Varilight 13A 2-Gang Switched Socket with USB is designed for homeowners and professionals looking to modernize their electrical infrastructure without compromising on style. This unit provides a high-quality Iridium Black finish while integrating two 5V DC 2100mA USB ports, allowing for efficient charging of mobile devices directly from the wall. Yes, but note that the 2100mA current is shared between the two ports. Charging two high-draw devices simultaneously may result in slower charging speeds for each.
It is designed to fit standard UK wall boxes, but ensure your wall box has adequate depth for the integrated USB circuitry.
The USB ports are linked to the switched socket; ensure the switch is set to ON for the ports to receive power.
If you are not confident or experienced in electrical installation, it is recommended to hire a qualified electrician to ensure safety and compliance.
The Iridium Black finish is premium and aesthetic; while high quality, it may require occasional wiping to remove fingerprints or smudges.
Check that the switch for the socket is in the ON position and verify the cable used is functioning correctly with another charging source.
Ensure the mounting screws are tightened appropriately and that the wall box is securely fixed behind the plaster or wall surface.
To install this socket, ensure the power supply is isolated at the consumer unit before beginning. This socket is designed to fit into standard UK-sized wall boxes. Always verify the depth of your existing wall box, as some USB sockets require slightly more room than standard legacy sockets. For care and cleaning, wipe the Iridium Black faceplate with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Avoid the use of abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or solvents, as these may damage the finish of the plate.
