Full details

The BUNKER INDUST Offroad Traction Boards with Jack Base are designed for off-road enthusiasts, providing a versatile solution to get vehicles unstuck from challenging terrain like mud, snow, or sand. Their key benefit lies in their dual functionality: they can be combined for larger vehicles or used individually for ATVs/UTVs, and the integrated jack base offers a stable platform for farm jacks on unstable ground. A potential caveat is that while durable, they are designed to withstand up to 15 tons, so exceeding this limit could lead to damage.

FAQs

How do I connect the two mini traction boards?

The two mini traction boards are designed to slot together with the orange jack base in the middle, forming a single, extended recovery track.

Can I use these in freezing temperatures?

Yes, these traction boards are made with an improved formula that allows them to operate effectively in temperatures as low as -60°C (-76° F).

What is the maximum weight these boards can support?

The BUNKER INDUST traction devices are designed to withstand a weight of up to 15 tons.

Can the jack base be used with any farm jack?

The jack base is designed to be compatible with most standard farm jacks, providing a stable platform.

What material are these traction boards made from?

They are made from PA6, also known as the 'bearing material,' which provides high durability and resistance to various environmental factors.

How should I clean the traction boards?

After use, simply rinse them with water to remove any mud, sand, or debris. Allow them to dry before storing.

Can these boards be used as shovels?

Yes, the user-friendly design allows them to be used as shovels for minor digging or clearing around tires.

What is the benefit of the nylon leash?

The nylon leash makes it easy to retrieve the traction plate, especially when it becomes buried in sand or mud during use.

Troubleshooting

Vehicle still stuck after using boards

Ensure boards are positioned correctly under the drive wheels. Check that you are using a steady, controlled acceleration. If on a steep incline, consider using a winch if available. Ensure the boards are fully engaged with the tire tread.

Traction boards seem to be sliding or not gripping

Verify that the diamond array pattern is facing upwards towards the tire. Ensure the ground beneath the boards is as firm as possible. If the terrain is extremely slick, try digging out a small amount of material in front of the wheels to allow the boards to seat better.

Jack base is not stable

Ensure the jack base is placed on the flattest, most stable section of ground available. The traction mat underneath the jack base is designed to improve stability on soft ground; ensure it is properly positioned.

Boards are difficult to retrieve after use

Use the included nylon leash to pull the boards out. If deeply buried, try to excavate around them slightly with a shovel or by using the boards themselves as makeshift shovels.

Boards show signs of wear or minor cracking

Minor surface scuffing is normal. If significant cracks or fractures appear, especially after bending, inspect the boards carefully. Avoid exceeding the 120° bending limit or the 15-ton weight capacity.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Highly versatile for various vehicle types and recovery scenarios.
  • Integrated jack base provides crucial stability for safe jacking.
  • Durable construction suitable for extreme temperatures and heavy loads.
  • Flexible design prevents fracture under stress.
  • User-friendly features enhance practicality and storage.

Cons

  • Weight capacity limit of 15 tons should not be exceeded.
  • While flexible, extreme bending beyond 120° could cause damage.
  • Individual boards may be less effective for very large, heavy vehicles compared to combined use.
  • Requires proper technique to avoid damage during aggressive wheel spin.
  • Effectiveness on exceptionally slick or deep surfaces may vary.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

  1. Determine if individual boards or the combined unit with the jack base is needed based on your vehicle's size and the terrain.
  2. For combined use, align the two mini traction boards with the jack base and connect them.
  3. Place the traction boards firmly under the drive wheels that have lost traction, ensuring the contoured ramps are positioned for easier tire entry.
  4. If using the jack base, ensure it is placed on stable ground beneath the jack, with the traction mat underneath for added support.
  5. Engage the vehicle's drive and accelerate slowly to allow the tires to grip the traction boards.

Compatibility:

  • Compatible with most farm jacks when using the jack base feature.
  • Suitable for use with ATVs, UTVs, SUVs, and larger 4x4 vehicles.
  • Can be used in mud, snow, sand, and other loose or slippery conditions.

Care:

  • After use, clean the traction boards with water to remove dirt, mud, or sand.
  • Store the boards in the provided carry bag to protect them and keep them organized.
  • Inspect for any damage before and after each use.
  • Ensure the boards are stored in a location that avoids extreme prolonged direct sunlight if possible, to maximize UV resistance over time.
