FAQs

What is the R-Value of the Ultrasphere 5?

The Ultrasphere 5 has an R-Value of 5.5, making it suitable for cold-weather use.

How much does the Ultrasphere 5 weigh?

The regular size weighs approximately 345g (12.2oz).

What are the packed dimensions?

The packed size is 18 x 9 cm.

How is the mat inflated?

It is inflated using an included pump sack for rapid and hygienic inflation, or manually through the low-profile two-way valve.

What is TILT reflective film?

TILT reflective film is a technology used to reflect body heat back towards the user, enhancing warmth without adding significant weight or bulk.

Can I use this mat in freezing temperatures?

Yes, with an R-Value of 5.5, it is designed for cold-weather conditions. For extremely cold environments, consider adding a closed-cell foam pad for extra insulation.

What is included with the sleeping mat?

The mat comes with a pump sack and a roll-away stuff sack that includes a repair kit.

Troubleshooting

Mat is not inflating fully

Ensure the pump sack is properly attached to the valve and that the valve itself is fully open. Check for any blockages in the pump sack or valve. You can also try manual inflation via the valve, though this will take longer.

Mat is losing air overnight

Check the two-way valve to ensure it is completely closed and sealed. Inspect the mat for any punctures or leaks. Use the included repair kit to patch any small holes.

Difficult to deflate

Ensure the large part of the two-way valve is fully opened to allow air to escape rapidly. Press down on the mat to help push the air out.

Reduced warmth in cold conditions

Ensure the TILT reflective film layers are facing inwards towards your body. Check that the mat is fully inflated to its intended thickness, as this provides insulation. Avoid sleeping directly on frozen ground if possible; use a closed-cell foam pad underneath for extra insulation.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

Unroll the mat and open the low-profile two-way valve.
Attach the included pump sack to the valve.
Fill the pump sack with air and squeeze it to transfer air into the mat.
Repeat until the desired firmness is achieved.
Close the valve securely.

Compatibility:

Care:

Store the mat loosely rolled in its stuff sack, or unrolled if possible, in a cool, dry place.
Avoid exposing the mat to direct sunlight for extended periods when inflated.
Clean the mat with a damp cloth and mild soap if necessary. Do not use harsh chemicals.
Ensure the mat is completely dry before storing to prevent mold or mildew.
Periodically check the valve for debris and ensure it seals properly.
