Product Information

Full details

The Yellow Door Sensory Play Stones Fish set is an ideal resource for early childhood educators, parents, and caregivers looking to foster tactile engagement and imaginative play in children. These eight uniquely textured stones provide a durable, hands-on way for children to explore marine life, making them perfect for sensory bins, water play, or creative arts. While they offer exceptional durability and educational value, users should note that they are designed as a tactile learning tool rather than a comprehensive biology set, meaning they are best suited for creative exploration rather than formal science instruction.

FAQs

Are these stones safe for children to put in their mouths?

While the materials are non-toxic, the stones are sized between 70-90mm; they should always be used under adult supervision to prevent choking hazards.

Can these be used in a dishwasher?

It is recommended to hand-wash these stones to preserve the fine detail and texture of the castings.

Are the fish species identifiable for educational purposes?

Yes, each fish is sculpted with distinct characteristics of the listed species, making them excellent visual aids for learning about different types of marine life.

Will the textures wear down over time?

These stones are designed for heavy use and are very durable, but normal wear and tear may occur after years of intensive play.

Can I use these with paint?

Yes, they can be used as stamps with water-based, washable paint, but make sure to clean them immediately after use to prevent paint from drying in the grooves.

Troubleshooting

Stones become slippery in soapy water

Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry with a towel to restore grip.

Build-up in deep texture grooves

Use a soft-bristled brush, such as an old toothbrush, to gently scrub debris out of the detailed markings.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup for these stones is immediate; there are no assembly requirements. To get the most out of your set, consider storing them in a dedicated sensory tray or a small drawstring bag to keep the collection together.

Compatibility: These stones are compatible with all standard tactile play materials, including non-toxic playdough, kinetic sand, and water-based sensory bins.

Care Instructions: To maintain the longevity of the detailed markings, wash the stones with warm, soapy water after heavy use in dirt or sand. Air dry completely before storing them in a sealed container to prevent any moisture buildup. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners, as these may wear down the surface finish over time.
