Product Information
Full details
The Asics Matcontrol Boxing Boot is designed for dedicated boxers and combat sports athletes who require precise traction and ankle stability during training sessions and fight nights. It offers a specialized low-profile design that maximizes agility, allowing for fluid footwork and explosive pivots without sacrificing support; however, users should note that its mid-cut profile provides a specific fit that may require a break-in period for those accustomed to low-top trainers.

FAQs
Can I use these for general weightlifting?
These boots are designed for boxing and mat sports. They lack the heel support and wide base required for safe heavy weightlifting.
How should I clean the outsole?
Wipe the outsole with a damp cloth after each training session to maintain its grip on the canvas.
Are these boots waterproof?
No, they are made from breathable materials meant to manage sweat and heat, not to repel external moisture.
How do I choose the right size?
Asics typically follow standard athletic sizing, but we recommend measuring your foot while wearing your training socks to ensure a proper fit.
Can I replace the insoles?
The insoles are designed for the specific profile of the boot; removing them may affect the fit and support, but they are removable if you require custom orthotics.
Troubleshooting
Foot slipping during pivots
Ensure the laces are tightened specifically across the bridge of the foot and check that the outsole is free of accumulated dust or lint.
Ankle discomfort during initial use
The material needs time to contour to your foot shape; wear the boots during short sessions to break them in gradually.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Excellent grip on canvas surfaces
- High-level ankle support for stability
- Lightweight construction facilitates fast movement
- Durable build quality for long-term training
Cons
- Requires a break-in period for optimal comfort
- Mid-cut design may feel restrictive to some users
- Not intended for non-combat gym activities like lifting
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your boots last through many rounds, prioritize proper lacing. Start with a snug fit at the midfoot and loosen slightly toward the top to allow for natural ankle flexion during movement. These boots are designed exclusively for boxing and wrestling mats or canvas rings; avoid wearing them on abrasive surfaces like asphalt or concrete, as this will rapidly degrade the specialized outsole. To clean, use a soft brush and mild soap to remove dust from the fabric, then air dry away from direct heat sources to prevent material damage.
