Product Information

Full details

The Vango Galli Low Driveaway Awning is designed for campervan owners who need a spacious, flexible living area without sacrificing the ability to take day trips. This poled awning offers a reliable, weather-resistant shelter that stands independently when you disconnect your vehicle, making it a perfect companion for extended touring. While its robust fibreglass structure provides excellent durability and headroom, users should be aware that setup requires a bit more time compared to inflatable models due to the traditional pole assembly.

FAQs

Can I leave the awning up while I drive away?

Yes, the Galli Low features a roll-away connecting tunnel specifically designed for this purpose.

Is this awning waterproof?

Yes, it is constructed from Vango's fully waterproof Sentinel Active fabric.

What is the benefit of the TBS II system?

The Tension Band System provides internal bracing that significantly increases the awning's stability in gusty or windy conditions.

How long does it take to pitch?

As a poled awning, it typically requires 20-30 minutes for an experienced user to pitch fully.

Does it come with a groundsheet?

It includes a linked-in groundsheet for protection against damp ground and insects.

Can I use this on different campervans?

The 'Low' designation refers to the height; it is compatible with most low-profile campervans. Ensure your vehicle height matches the recommended range for this model.

Troubleshooting

Awning feels unstable in wind

Check that the TBS II tension bands are properly adjusted and that all guylines are taut and pegged at a 45-degree angle.

Water pooling on the roof

Increase tension on the poles or adjust the guylines to ensure the roof fabric is tight and rain can run off effectively.

Difficulty attaching to vehicle

Verify the vehicle is positioned at the correct distance from the awning and that the connection tunnel is aligned with your specific attachment hardware.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Flexible drive-away design for easy day trips
Excellent headroom due to pre-angled poles
Lightweight and packable Sentinel Active fabric
Patented TBS II system improves wind stability
Spacious design suitable for families and extended storage

Cons

Fibreglass pole assembly is slower than inflatable air-beam models
Requires manual effort for pitching
Heavier pack weight compared to simple shelters

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To set up the Galli Low, insert the PowerFlex poles into the designated sleeves, secure the base, and tension the TBS II bands to ensure the frame is taut against the wind. Ensure the tunnel is correctly aligned with your vehicle's attachment point (such as a rail or gutter) to maintain a watertight seal.

For ongoing care:

Always clean and dry the fabric thoroughly before packing to prevent mold and mildew.
Regularly inspect the fibreglass poles for any signs of splintering.
Store in the provided compression bag to maintain a compact footprint.
If used in extreme weather, check that all guylines are pegged correctly to support the structure.
