Setup, Compatibility & Care
When working with this fabric, it is recommended to use a new, heavy universal sewing machine needle (size 90/14 or larger) to ensure smooth penetration through all layers. A walking foot or even-feed foot can be highly beneficial for managing the multiple layers and preventing shifting during sewing. Pre-washing is generally not recommended for quilted fabrics as it can affect the loft of the wadding and potentially alter the quilting stitches. Instead, test a small swatch if you feel pre-washing is necessary. For care, dry cleaning is the preferred method to maintain the fabric's structure and the integrity of the quilting. If hand washing is attempted, use cool water and minimal agitation, then lay flat to dry. Avoid machine washing and high heat drying.
