From mid-summer to autumn, it produces brilliant pink flowers, approximately 7-9 cm in diameter, that bloom in abundance. These large, attractive flowers, though unscented, attract various pollinators, including bees and hummingbirds. This plant thrives in full sun and is well-suited for borders and informal garden settings that resemble natural wildflower areas. It is a hardy plant, capable of withstanding temperatures from -10°C to -15°C, though sheltered positions are recommended. Similar to other plants in the Lavatera group, once established, it performs well in low-moisture areas and can tolerate drought to some extent. Heavy pruning down to about 30 cm in late spring is advisable to encourage the growth of new flowering stems. With a lengthy growing season, this plant will be a delight in any chosen setting. Heavy yearly pruning is encouraged. As it is a fast grower, it should be pruned before severe weather arrives, to prevent winds and rain in autumn from causing the plant to topple.
