Product Information

Full details

The Ruffwear Front Range Flex Harness is designed for dog owners seeking a high-performance, everyday harness that prioritizes comfort and freedom of movement. Utilizing an engineered knit fabric inspired by athletic footwear, this harness contours to your dog's unique shape to prevent chafing and bulk. While it offers excellent versatility for various breeds, users should note that the soft, knit construction is specifically optimized for comfort and may require careful monitoring for dogs that are extreme chewers when off-leash.

FAQs

Is this harness machine washable?

We recommend hand washing with mild detergent to preserve the integrity of the engineered knit material.

Can I use the chest attachment for car safety?

No, the chest attachment is strictly for leash training and walking, not for securing your dog in a vehicle.

How do I know if the fit is too tight?

If you cannot fit two fingers comfortably between the harness and your dog's skin, it is likely too tight and should be loosened.

What is the Beacon loop used for?

It is a dedicated reinforced point designed to securely hold The Beacon safety light for better visibility.

Is this suitable for puppies?

Yes, the high level of adjustability makes it a great option for growing dogs, provided you check the fit frequently.

Troubleshooting

Harness shifts to one side during walks

Check that the chest and neck straps are adjusted symmetrically; loose straps often cause the harness to rotate.

Buckle is difficult to snap

Check the buckle housing for trapped fur or trail debris and rinse with water if necessary.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Flexible knit fabric reduces rubbing and chafing
Dual leash attachment points support training and casual walking
Highly adjustable design fits a wide range of body shapes
Lightweight and breathable materials for all-day comfort
Integrated reflective features enhance low-light safety

Cons

Knit fabric may be susceptible to snagging on rough brush
Not intended for heavy-duty pulling or pack-hauling
Requires careful measurement to ensure optimal fit

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To achieve the best fit, adjust all four points—two at the neck and two at the girth—until the harness feels snug but not restrictive. You should be able to slide two fingers between the strap and your dog's body.

Care Instructions:

Cleaning: Hand wash using mild detergent and warm water.
Drying: Air dry thoroughly in a shaded area; do not use high-heat dryers which can compromise the knit integrity.
Maintenance: Periodically check all buckles and attachment points for signs of wear or debris that may interfere with the latching mechanism.
