The Sealey BTSB100 Heat Shrink Butt Connector is an essential component for automotive technicians and industrial electricians who require durable, weather-resistant electrical terminations. These connectors provide a secure, long-lasting connection for 16-14 AWG wiring by combining a mechanical crimp with an adhesive-lined heat shrink seal that locks out moisture and debris. While they are highly effective for harsh environments, users should note that they require a proper crimping tool and a reliable heat source for successful installation.

Yes, the adhesive-lined design provides a moisture-resistant seal that is well-suited for high-humidity environments, provided the connection point is not permanently submerged.
Yes, the BTSB100 is compatible with both types of copper wire within the 16-14 AWG range.
The adhesive lining creates a permanent, waterproof barrier between the wire and the elements once the heat-shrink tube has been activated.
No, these are single-use components. Once the adhesive has cured and the tube has shrunk, it cannot be safely removed or re-applied.
It is not recommended. Hair dryers typically do not reach the required temperatures to activate the heat-shrink and adhesive properties properly; a dedicated heat gun is preferred.
Ensure the heat source is moved consistently around the circumference of the connector rather than focusing heat on a single spot.
Verify that you are using the correct gauge wire (16-14 AWG) and that your crimping tool is set to the correct pressure for butt terminals.
Apply more heat until you see a small bead of clear adhesive emerge from the ends of the tube, indicating a complete seal.
For optimal performance, ensure you are using compatible 16-14 AWG stranded or solid copper wire. Using wire that is too thin will result in an insecure crimp, while wire that is too thick may damage the connector during insertion. When applying heat, avoid overheating or scorching the plastic tubing, as this can degrade the insulation properties. Maintain a clean workspace to ensure no grit enters the adhesive lining before it is heated. Store the remaining connectors in a dry, cool location to maintain the integrity of the heat-shrink material.
