Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Unpack the Oxford Alarm-D and identify the three included keys and the unique key number tag.
- Ensure the Lithium CR2 battery is correctly installed in the alarm unit. The lock is typically armed by pressing the button on the lock body. A single beep indicates it is armed and entering the alarm-ready state. It will arm fully after a short delay, indicated by a double beep.
- Crucially, record your unique key number. Store this number in a safe place, separate from the keys themselves, for future reference.
Compatibility:
This D-lock is designed for securing motorcycles, scooters, and potentially bicycles. Its effectiveness depends on being able to loop it through the frame and a fixed object (like a parking meter or ground anchor), or around the wheel and frame.
Care:
- Keep the lock mechanism clean and free from dirt and grit. Periodically lubricate the keyhole with a suitable graphite lubricant (do not use oil-based lubricants which can attract dirt).
- Protect the lock from extreme weather conditions where possible to prolong its life.
- Check the alarm battery periodically and replace it with a new Lithium CR2 battery when the siren sounds weaker or intermittently.
- Store keys safely. If you lose the key number, you may not be able to obtain replacements.
