Product Information

Full details

Pooch & Mutt Health & Digestion Dry Dog Food is an ideal nutritional solution for adult dogs suffering from sensitive stomachs, digestive upset, or skin irritation related to food sensitivities. The primary benefit is its highly digestible salmon-based formula that works to soothe the gastrointestinal tract and firm up stools through natural prebiotics. While it provides high-quality nutrition, pet owners should note that because it is a grain-free, poultry-free recipe, it may require a gradual transition period if your dog is accustomed to traditional kibble diets to avoid minor digestive discomfort during the changeover.

FAQs

Is this food suitable for puppies?

This formula is specifically designed for adult dogs; please consult your veterinarian before feeding it to puppies as their growth requirements are different.

Can this help with my dog's itchy skin?

Yes, the high levels of omega-3 fatty acids from the salmon are excellent for nourishing the skin barrier and reducing inflammation associated with food allergies.

Does it contain any artificial additives?

No, Pooch & Mutt prides itself on using natural ingredients with no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives.

Is it completely poultry-free?

Yes, this recipe is formulated without any chicken, turkey, or duck, making it ideal for dogs with poultry-specific allergies.

How long should I keep a dog on this food?

It is a complete and balanced food, meaning it is suitable for long-term daily feeding if your dog thrives on it.

Troubleshooting

Dog is rejecting the new food

Try mixing in a small amount of warm water or low-sodium bone broth to enhance the natural aroma of the salmon.

Minor loose stools during transition

Slow down the transition process by keeping the ratio of new food lower for a few extra days until the dog's stomach adjusts.

Increased gas or bloating

Ensure your dog is not eating too quickly by using a slow-feeder bowl to encourage more controlled ingestion.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Hypoallergenic formula suitable for sensitive dogs
Rich in Omega-3s for coat and skin health
No poultry or grains used in the recipe
Natural ingredients focused on gut flora support

May be more expensive than standard supermarket brands
Requires a slow transition to avoid stomach upset
Availability may be limited in smaller physical stores

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Transitioning to Pooch & Mutt Health & Digestion should be done gradually over a 7-day period. Begin by mixing 25% of this new food with 75% of your dog's current food, slowly increasing the ratio until the dog is on 100% new food by the end of the week. Always ensure your dog has constant access to fresh, clean water, as the added fiber from ingredients like sweet potato requires adequate hydration to move through the system properly. Store the bag in a cool, dry place and ensure it is sealed tightly after each use to maintain the freshness of the omega oils.
