Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
Your rose is supplied in a 4-litre pot, ready for planting. Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice the width of the pot and to the same depth. Gently remove the rose from its pot, loosen the roots slightly, and place it in the hole. Backfill with soil, firm gently, and water thoroughly.
Compatibility:
This rose is compatible with most garden soils. It can be planted alongside other shrubs and perennials, but ensure adequate spacing for its bushy growth. It can also be grown in large containers (minimum 15-20 litres) with good quality potting compost.
Care:
- Watering: Water regularly, especially during dry periods and the first year after planting. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
- Feeding: Feed annually in spring with a balanced rose fertilizer. An additional feed in early summer can encourage repeat flowering.
- Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing stems. Aim to create an open, goblet shape. Deadhead spent flowers throughout the season to encourage further blooms.
- Pest & Disease: Monitor for common rose pests like aphids and diseases like black spot. Treat promptly with appropriate organic or chemical controls.
