FAQs
What is the primary purpose of the Polypipe 117mm Polyflow Union Bracket?
Its primary purpose is to join two sections of the Polypipe 117mm Polyflow Deep Capacity Gutter together, providing a secure and watertight connection.
What material is the bracket made from?
The bracket is manufactured from durable PVCu (Unplasticised Polyvinyl Chloride).
Is this bracket suitable for all gutter systems?
No, this bracket is specifically designed for the Polypipe Polyflow Deep Capacity Gutter system with 117mm dimensions.
Does the bracket come with fixings?
No, fixings such as screws or rivets are not typically included with the bracket and must be sourced separately according to installation requirements.
How does the 'deep capacity' feature benefit me?
The deep capacity design allows the gutter system to handle a larger volume of rainwater, reducing the risk of overflow during heavy rainfall.
Can I paint this bracket?
While PVCu can be painted, it is recommended to use paints specifically designed for plastic surfaces to ensure adhesion and durability. The black finish is usually intended to be the final aesthetic.
What is the benefit of the 'cast iron aesthetic'?
It provides the visual appeal of traditional cast iron gutters, which is often desired for period properties, but with the modern advantages of PVCu, such as lighter weight, easier installation, and resistance to rust and corrosion.
Troubleshooting
Gutter leak at the union point.
Ensure the gutter ends are fully inserted into the bracket and that a suitable gutter sealant has been applied correctly during installation. Check for any debris preventing a proper seal and reapply sealant if necessary.
Bracket appears loose or unstable.
Verify that the bracket is properly secured to the gutter sections. If fixings were used, ensure they are tightened appropriately. If the bracket is part of a larger support structure, check the stability of that structure.
Water pooling on the gutter surface near the bracket.
Check for blockages in the gutter system further along the run. Ensure the gutter has adequate fall towards the downpipe. The bracket itself should not impede water flow if installed correctly.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
Compatibility: This union bracket is specifically designed for use with the Polypipe Polyflow Deep Capacity Gutter system. Ensure your existing or planned guttering is the 117mm Polyflow type before purchasing.
Setup: The bracket is used to join two pieces of 117mm Polyflow guttering together. Ensure the ends of the gutter sections are clean and free from debris. Slide the ends of the gutter sections into the union bracket, ensuring they meet in the middle. Secure the gutter lengths to the bracket according to the Polypipe installation guidelines, which typically involves appropriate gutter sealants or fixings (not included). Proper alignment is crucial for a watertight seal.
Care: The PVCu material requires minimal maintenance. Clean the bracket and the surrounding gutter system periodically with a soft brush and water to remove leaves, dirt, or other debris that could impede water flow. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the finish or material. Inspect the bracket annually for any signs of damage or wear, especially after periods of extreme weather.
