Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup Instructions
- Choose a Level Site: Select a flat, level, and well-drained area in your garden, ideally one that receives plenty of sunlight throughout the day.
- Unpack and Inventory: Carefully unpack all components and verify against the included parts list. Organize hardware to streamline assembly.
- Assemble the Frame: Follow the step-by-step instructions to connect the aluminium frame sections. It's often helpful to have a second person assist with this stage.
- Install Panels: Insert the polycarbonate panels into the frame channels. Ensure they are securely fastened according to the manufacturer's guidelines, often using clips or silicone.
- Attach Door and Windows: Install the sliding door and the adjustable windows, ensuring they operate smoothly.
- Anchor the Greenhouse: Securely anchor the base of the greenhouse to the ground using ground stakes or by bolting it to a prepared foundation (e.g., concrete slab, timber frame). This is crucial for stability.
Compatibility
This greenhouse is compatible with a wide range of gardening practices, from container gardening to raised beds, provided they fit within its dimensions. It can house various plant types, including vegetables, herbs, flowers, and even small shrubs, that benefit from a controlled environment.
Care & Maintenance
- Regular Cleaning: Clean the polycarbonate panels periodically with mild soap and water using a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid abrasive cleaners or brushes that could scratch the panels.
- Check Frame Integrity: Annually inspect the aluminium frame for any loose bolts, damaged sections, or signs of corrosion. Tighten fasteners as needed.
- Lubricate Moving Parts: Occasionally apply a silicone-based lubricant to the sliding door tracks and window mechanisms to ensure smooth operation.
- Clear Debris: Keep gutters (if present) and the base area clear of leaves and debris to prevent water buildup and promote drainage.
- Winter Preparation: In areas with heavy snowfall, carefully remove snow from the roof to prevent structural damage. While the greenhouse offers protection, consider adding an internal heater for extreme cold if overwintering tender plants.
