Product Information

Full details

The Gardner Covert Swivel Bait Screws - Mini are designed for dedicated carp anglers looking to optimize their rig presentation by improving bait rotation and mechanics. These screws are ideal for attaching smaller pop-ups or cork-balled hook baits, offering superior movement compared to traditional flexi bait screws; however, users should note that the 5mm thread length is specifically optimized for smaller baits with thinner skins and may not be suitable for large, hard boilies.

FAQs

Can I use these on larger boilies?

These Mini screws have a 5mm thread. While they work well for small baits, the 'Long' variant is recommended for larger or harder boilies.

Do I need bait floss with these?

No, the screw thread is designed to securely hold the bait without the need for additional floss or needles.

How many screws come in a pack?

Each pack contains 10 units of the Mini Swivel Bait Screws.

Will the black finish fade?

The anti-glare finish is durable, but normal wear and tear against gravel or rocks may cause minor surface scratches over time.

Are these compatible with plastic baits?

Yes, they are compatible with most plastic pop-ups, provided the plastic is soft enough to accept the thread.

Troubleshooting

Bait is falling off the screw during a cast

Ensure the bait is screwed on firmly; for softer baits, use a tiny amount of rig glue or superglue on the thread before attachment.

Swivel appears stiff

Check for debris or silt inside the swivel eyelet and rinse under clean water to restore smooth rotation.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Improved hook bait rotation compared to standard rig rings
Anti-glare finish reduces underwater visibility
Compact 5mm size is perfect for thin-skinned or small hook baits
High-quality construction from a trusted brand
Easy and rapid bait attachment without needing floss

Cons

Not suitable for very large or excessively hard boilies
Small size can be fiddly to handle with cold hands
Limited to specific bait types for optimal holding power

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To use these bait screws, slide the ring onto your hook shank or rig swivel before securing your hooklink. When attaching bait, hold the boilie securely and twist it onto the thread. Avoid over-tightening as this may cause small or fragile baits to crack. For care, rinse the screws in fresh water after use in silt or debris to ensure the swivel continues to rotate smoothly. Store in a dry place to maintain the integrity of the anti-glare coating over time.
