FAQs

What type of fish can I put in this 7L tank?

This tank is best suited for shrimp or very small nano-fish species. Please verify the specific care requirements and space needs of any livestock before adding them.

Does this kit include a heater?

No, the kit includes the tank, pump, filtration, and LED light. You will need to purchase a heater separately if keeping tropical species.

How often should I change the filter floss?

It should be checked during your weekly water change and rinsed if dirty. Replace it only when it begins to lose its structural integrity.

Is the lighting safe around water?

Yes, the lighting system features an IP65-rated switch, making it splash-resistant for normal aquarium operation.

Can I keep this on a desk?

Yes, its compact 23 x 16 x 28.5cm footprint is specifically designed to fit easily on desks, shelves, or office surfaces.

Troubleshooting

Pump is making a rattling noise

Check the pump intake for debris or ensure it is fully submerged and not vibrating against the glass.

Water appears cloudy

This may be due to overfeeding or an uncycled filter; reduce feeding amounts and check filter media cleanliness.

LED light does not turn on

Check that the plug is fully inserted into the socket and inspect the IP65 switch for moisture or obstructions.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Compact and stylish design suitable for desktops
Complete "plug-and-play" starter kit
Easy maintenance via the tilt-up hood
High-quality glass for clear viewing

Cons

Limited to small stocking levels due to 7L volume
Not suitable for large fish or species requiring significant swimming room
Requires regular maintenance due to small water volume

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setting up the Actiaspet 7L is straightforward: place the tank on a level, stable surface capable of supporting at least 2.4kg plus the weight of water. Connect the included 3-pin UK plug only to a wall socket that is protected from potential splashes.

Maintenance Routine:

Perform partial water changes (10-20%) weekly to maintain water quality.
Rinse the filter floss in conditioned water rather than tap water to preserve beneficial bacteria.
Wipe the glass exterior with a clean, damp cloth; avoid household chemicals that could harm the fish.
Check the pump intake monthly to ensure it remains free of debris or plant matter.
