FAQs

How do I choose the right shade?

Consider your skin's undertone (warm, cool, or neutral) and intensity. It's best to test shades on your jawline in natural light. Consulting with a makeup artist or Guerlain counter staff can help.

Can I use this foundation on sensitive skin?

Yes, the foundation is formulated with a high percentage of naturally-derived ingredients. However, it’s always best to test on a small area of skin if you have known sensitivities.

How much coverage does this foundation provide?

The foundation provides medium to high, buildable coverage. You can apply a thin layer for a more natural look or build it up for fuller coverage.

Is this foundation transfer-resistant?

Yes, the formula is designed to be transfer-resistant, minimizing smudging and transfer to clothing or face masks.

How should I apply this foundation?

For best results, apply the foundation with the Guerlain Kabuki brush, a makeup sponge, or your fingertips, blending evenly from the center of your face outwards.

Does this foundation contain SPF?

No, the Terracotta Le Teint foundation does not contain SPF. It is recommended to use a separate sunscreen before applying the foundation.

How do I clean the foundation pump bottle?

Wipe the outside of the bottle with a damp cloth. If the pump nozzle is clogged, you can gently clean it with a cotton swab.

Troubleshooting

Foundation appears cakey or heavy.

Use a smaller amount of product, blend well, and consider using a hydrating primer underneath. Ensure you are not over-applying the product.

Foundation doesn't last all day.

Set the foundation with a setting powder. Consider using a makeup primer before application. Reapply as necessary.

Difficulty finding the right shade.

Visit a Guerlain counter for a shade matching consultation. Test multiple shades on your jawline in natural light before making a selection. Consider a combination of shades.

Foundation transfers to clothing or face masks.

Ensure you're using a setting powder. Allow the foundation to dry completely before contact with fabrics. Use a setting spray for extra hold.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Application

Prep Your Skin: Start with a clean, moisturized face.
Apply Foundation: Dispense a small amount of foundation onto the back of your hand or directly onto the Guerlain Kabuki brush.
Blend: Use the brush, a makeup sponge, or your fingertips to blend the foundation evenly across your face, starting from the center and working outwards.
Build Coverage: Add more layers for increased coverage as needed.
Set (Optional): If desired, set the foundation with a translucent powder for extra longevity, especially for oily skin.

Compatibility

The foundation is compatible with most skincare products. However, it's recommended to allow your moisturizer or primer to fully absorb before applying the foundation. It is suitable for most skin types, including sensitive skin. Its hydrating properties, due to the presence of Argan oil, is a plus for dry skin.

Care Instructions

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Ensure the pump bottle is closed tightly after each use to prevent the foundation from drying out.
Clean the pump nozzle if necessary to prevent clogging.
