FAQs
What is the best way to hold my pet's paw?
Gently but firmly, ensuring you have a clear view of the nail and can avoid the quick.
How do I know where to cut?
Trim only the tip of the nail, avoiding the pink area (the quick). If you're unsure, consult with a veterinarian or professional groomer.
What if I cut the quick?
If you accidentally cut the quick, it will bleed. Apply styptic powder or cornstarch to stop the bleeding. If bleeding doesn't stop, consult a vet.
How often should I trim my pet's nails?
Typically, every 2-4 weeks, but this depends on the pet's activity level and nail growth. Observe your pet to see what the best schedule is for your pet.
Can I use these on my bird or other small animals?
While the pliers are suitable for a variety of pets, always ensure the size and design are appropriate. If you are not sure, consult a professional.
How do I sharpen the pliers?
These pliers are not designed to be sharpened. Replace them when the blades become dull.
What kind of steel are they made of?
The Wahl Wire Spring Pliers are made of high-quality stainless steel, ensuring durability and rust resistance.
Troubleshooting
Clippers feel difficult to use or don't cut cleanly.
Ensure the blades are clean and free of debris. Make sure you are using the correct technique; practice on a soft item if necessary.
Pet is anxious during nail trimming.
Use treats, praise, and a calm voice to reassure your pet. If the pet continues to be anxious, consider professional grooming.
