Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: Upon receiving your Bromeliad Pink Quill in its 9cm pot, remove any excess packaging. Place it in its desired location immediately. Ensure the pot has adequate drainage to prevent water accumulation.
Compatibility: This plant thrives alongside other humidity-loving houseplants such as ferns, calatheas, orchids, and other bromeliads. It is well-suited for placement in bathrooms, kitchens, or any room that can maintain a humid atmosphere.
Care:
- Light: Provide bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves and bract.
- Watering: Keep the compost lightly moist. Water the soil directly, avoiding the central cup of the plant where water can stagnate. Allow the top layer of compost to dry slightly between waterings.
- Misting: Mist the foliage every couple of days, especially in drier indoor conditions, to maintain humidity. Using filtered, distilled, or rainwater is recommended to prevent mineral buildup on the leaves.
- Temperature: Prefers average room temperatures, ideally between 18-24°C (65-75°F).
- Feeding: Bromeliads generally require minimal feeding. A diluted liquid fertilizer applied to the soil once or twice during the growing season (spring/summer) is sufficient.
