Full details
The Ergon GP4 Large grips are designed for endurance cyclists, touring riders, and mountain bikers who prioritize long-term comfort and versatile hand positioning. By providing a wide palm platform and a full-size integrated bar end, these grips significantly reduce ulnar nerve pressure and hand fatigue, though they do require careful initial adjustment to ensure both the bar end and grip platform are perfectly aligned for your specific reach and riding posture.

FAQs
How do I know if I need the Large size?
The Large size is recommended for riders with larger hands, typically those who wear glove sizes 8.5 and above.
Are these compatible with twist shifters?
The GP4 series is generally designed for trigger shifters; they may require cutting the grip length if used with full-length twist shifters.
Can I install these on carbon handlebars?
Yes, but ensure you do not exceed the torque specifications listed in your handlebar's manual.
Is the bar end removable?
The bar end is an integrated part of the grip assembly and cannot be removed.
Are these suitable for intense mountain biking?
While durable, the GP4 is geared more towards endurance, touring, and trekking rather than aggressive technical mountain biking where constant hand repositioning is required.
Troubleshooting
Grip slips or rotates during use
Ensure the clamping bolt is torqued to the manufacturer's recommendation (usually 5Nm) and verify no grease or debris is present inside the clamp.
Numbness persists despite using ergonomic grips
Adjust the angle of the grip platform. The platform should be positioned such that your wrist remains straight and your palm weight is evenly distributed.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Reduces hand fatigue and numbness on long rides
- Full-size bar end provides extra leverage for climbing
- Highly adjustable to fit different riding positions
- Durable, long-lasting rubber construction
- Excellent build quality and secure mounting
Cons
- Larger size may not be comfortable for riders with smaller hands
- Requires proper adjustment to achieve maximum ergonomic benefit
- Takes up more handlebar space due to the integrated bar end
- Not intended for extreme downhill or aggressive gravity mountain biking
Setup, Compatibility & Care
- Installation: Slide the grips onto standard 22.2mm handlebars. Use a 4mm hex key to tighten the clamping bolt located at the end of the grip.
- Adjustment: Loosen the clamp to adjust the grip wing angle so that your palm sits flush against the platform. Then, adjust the bar end to your preferred angle for climbing.
- Compatibility: These grips are compatible with most standard flat handlebars. Note that these are the 'Large' size, best suited for riders wearing glove sizes 8.5 to 10.5 or those who prefer a thicker grip feel.
- Care: Clean using a soft cloth and mild soapy water. Avoid using harsh degreasers, which can degrade the rubber compound over time.
