FAQs

What lead size does the A125-A use?

The A125-A model is specifically designed for 0.5mm lead.

Are the erasers replaceable?

Yes, the pencil uses the Z2-1N refill eraser, which can be purchased separately.

Can I use any lead in this pencil?

While it is designed for Pentel Super Hi-Polymer lead, it is compatible with any standard high-quality lead of the correct diameter.

Is the sleeve retractable?

No, the Sharplet-2 features a fixed drafting sleeve.

How many leads should I keep inside?

It is recommended to load 2-3 leads to prevent clogging the internal feed mechanism.

Troubleshooting

Lead is not advancing

Ensure the reservoir is not overfilled and check the tip for any stuck lead fragments.

Lead keeps breaking

Do not extend too much lead at once; use only 1-2mm of lead while writing to maintain support from the sleeve.

Eraser is loose

Ensure you are using the correct Z2-1N compatible refill and that it is fully seated in the metal holder.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Economical price point for high-quality performance
  • Lightweight build reduces wrist strain
  • Ribbed grip offers excellent control
  • Reliable and consistent lead advancement

Cons

  • Plastic body feels less substantial than metal alternatives
  • Fixed sleeve can be prone to bending if dropped
  • Design is purely functional rather than aesthetic

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To begin using your Sharplet-2, remove the cap to access the lead reservoir. Insert no more than 2-3 leads at a time to prevent internal jamming. The pencil is compatible with all standard Pentel Super Hi-Polymer leads. To replace the eraser, simply pull the cap off the rear, remove the old eraser, and insert a new Z2-1N refill. For long-term care, avoid dropping the pencil on hard surfaces, as the fixed sleeve can become damaged. If the lead gets stuck, ensure the internal tube is clear of broken lead shards by clearing it from the tip end with a thin needle.
