FAQs

Are the trays dishwasher safe?

While the stainless steel trays are durable, hand washing with warm soapy water is recommended to preserve the finish.

Can I dehydrate meat and fruit at the same time?

It is not recommended, as flavor transfer can occur and meat requires different temperature settings than fruit.

How noisy is the dehydrator during operation?

The fan generates a low hum similar to a standard countertop microwave or a quiet bathroom ventilation fan.

Does it have an automatic shut-off feature?

Yes, the digital control panel allows you to set the timer, and the unit will shut down automatically once the cycle finishes.

What is the temperature range?

The temperature is adjustable between 35 and 70 degrees Celsius.

Is the unit BPA-free?

Yes, all materials in contact with your food are BPA-free for your safety.

Troubleshooting

Unit will not power on

Check that the power cord is firmly plugged into the wall outlet and ensure the digital display is active.

Food is drying unevenly

Ensure the trays are not overloaded and try rotating the tray positions halfway through the drying cycle.

Drying is taking longer than expected

Check that the air intake at the back is not blocked and verify the ambient room temperature is not too cold.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Durable stainless steel tray construction
Precise digital temperature control
Easy-to-use touch interface
Transparent window for monitoring
Compact footprint for kitchen counters

Cons

Limited to six trays for very large batches
Requires manual rotation for absolute perfection on some foods

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To set up your Spector Dehydrator, place it on a flat, heat-resistant surface with at least 10cm of clearance around the rear vent for optimal airflow. Before first use, run the empty unit for 30 minutes at the highest temperature to burn off any manufacturing residues. For cleaning, the stainless steel trays are removable; wash them with warm soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge. The main unit housing should be wiped clean with a damp cloth—never submerge the base or motor in water. Ensure all trays are completely dry before reinserting them for your next cycle.
