Full details
Add a touch of drama to your borders with the striking presence of giant alliums. The Allium ‘Giant Collection’ features towering umbels of purple, pink, and white flowers that create a stunning focal point from May to June. These impressive globes float on tall stems, bridging the gap between spring bulbs and summer blooms. Easy to grow and reliably perennial, they provide a head-turning display with minimal effort.. Supplied as bulbs. The Allium ‘Giant Collection’ includes: Allium ‘Pinball Wizard’: Robust stems reaching up to 80cm support 4-inch, mid-purple globes. Height: 80cm (31in). Spread: 15cm (6in). Allium stipitatum: Tall, slender stems bear tightly clustered, lilac-pink flowers in a flattened globe. Height: 1. 5m (5ft). Spread: 15cm (6in). Allium ‘Mount Everest’: Large, white globes with over 50 star-shaped blooms. Height: 1. 2m (4ft). Spread: 15cm (6in). Allium ‘Magic’: A unique cross between A. schubertii and A. atropurpureum, this variety features short-stemmed flowers at the centre with longer-stemmed flowers radiating outward. Each head, up to 30cm across, displays dark purple, starry blooms that last from early summer. Height: 50cm (20in). Spread: 15cm (6in). Growing Information: Alliums thrive in light, sandy, well-drained soil in full sun. Avoid cold, wet soils to prevent bulb rot. Plant bulbs at a depth of 10cm (4") and spacing of 10cm (4") apart. Adding a slow-release fertilizer can enhance soil fertility if needed. For optimal appearance, plant alliums where other plants' leaves will cover the base of their stems, concealing the old foliage that dies back before flowering.
