FAQs
What is an RCD?
An RCD (Residual Current Device) is a safety device that quickly disconnects the power supply if it detects an earth fault.
What is the difference between an A-Type and an AC-Type RCD?
A-Type RCDs, like the CDA263U, detect both AC and pulsating DC fault currents. AC-Type RCDs only detect AC fault currents.
How do I test the RCD?
Press the test button on the RCD. The RCD should trip. If it doesn't, contact a qualified electrician.
Where should the RCD be installed?
The RCD should be installed in the distribution board, upstream of the circuits it is protecting.
What does the 30mA sensitivity mean?
It means the RCD will trip when it detects an earth leakage current of 30mA or more.
Can I install the RCD myself?
No, the installation of an RCD must be performed by a qualified electrician.
What standards does the CDA263U meet?
It meets the IEC61008-1 and EN61008-1 standards.
How often should I test the RCD?
Test the RCD monthly by pressing the test button.
Troubleshooting
RCD trips frequently.
Check for earth faults in the connected circuits. Consult a qualified electrician to identify and resolve the issue.
RCD does not trip when the test button is pressed.
Contact a qualified electrician to inspect and replace the RCD if necessary.
The RCD trips immediately after being reset.
There may be a persistent earth fault. Consult a qualified electrician to locate and fix the fault.
The RCD trips without any apparent reason.
There may be a transient fault. Reset the RCD. If it trips again, consult a qualified electrician.
