Product Information

Full details

This kenable Power Cord is for users needing to extend the reach of their Europlug devices to a Schuko socket. Its primary benefit is providing a reliable 5-meter extension with robust construction. A potential caveat is its specific Europlug and Schuko compatibility, which may not suit all international power standards. Key features include a 5-meter length, 18 AWG three-conductor cable, a 10A IEC C13 plug, and a 16A Schuko plug.

FAQs

What type of power outlets is this cord compatible with?

This cord is designed for European Schuko (Type F) power outlets, which are common in many European countries.

What is an IEC C13 connector?

An IEC C13 connector is the standard three-pin female socket found on the power input of many electronic devices like computers, monitors, and printers.

Can I use this cord in the UK?

No, this cord is not compatible with UK power outlets, which use a different plug standard (Type G).

What is the maximum power this cord can handle?

The IEC C13 end is rated for 10A, and the Schuko plug end is rated for 16A. Ensure your device's power requirements do not exceed these ratings.

Is this cord suitable for outdoor use?

This power cord is designed for indoor use only. Exposure to moisture or extreme conditions can damage the cable and pose a safety hazard.

How should I clean the power cord?

Disconnect the cord from all power sources. Wipe it down with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or immerse the cable in water.

What does 18 AWG mean for the cable?

18 American Wire Gauge (AWG) indicates the thickness of the conductor. A lower AWG number signifies a thicker wire, which generally means better conductivity and capacity for higher current.

Troubleshooting

Device not powering on

Verify that both the Schuko plug and the IEC C13 plug are securely inserted into their respective sockets. Check that the wall outlet is functional by testing with another device. Ensure the device's own power switch is in the 'on' position.

Intermittent power connection

Inspect the cable for any visible damage. Ensure the IEC C13 connection to the device is firm. If the issue persists, the cable may be faulty and should be replaced.

Cable feels warm during use

A slight warmth may be normal under heavy load, but excessive heat indicates a potential overload. Ensure your device's power consumption does not exceed the 10A rating of the IEC C13 connector. If the cable is very hot, disconnect immediately and consider a higher-rated cable or investigate your device's power draw.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Provides a significant 5-meter extension.
  • Features a three-conductor cable for grounding safety.
  • Compatible with standard Europlug (Schuko) and IEC C13 connections.
  • Robust construction suitable for regular use.

Cons

  • Limited to regions using Europlug (Type F/Schuko) and IEC C13 standards.
  • Not suitable for devices requiring higher amperage than 10A at the IEC C13 end or 16A at the Schuko end.
  • The 5-meter length might be excessive for short-distance needs, potentially creating clutter.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

  1. Ensure the power outlet you intend to use is a standard European Schuko (Type F) socket.
  2. Plug the Schuko end of the kenable Power Cord firmly into the wall socket.
  3. Connect the IEC C13 end of the power cord to the corresponding power input socket on your electronic device (e.g., computer, monitor, printer).
  4. Connect your device's main power cable to the IEC C13 plug.

Compatibility:

  • Plug Type (Wall End): European Schuko (Type F), commonly used in mainland Europe and parts of Asia and Africa.
  • Connector Type (Device End): IEC C13, a standard connector found on most desktop computers, monitors, servers, and various other electronic devices.
  • Voltage/Amperage: Suitable for devices operating within standard European voltage ranges and drawing up to 10A through the IEC C13 connector and 16A through the Schuko connector.

Care:

  • Regularly inspect the cable for any signs of damage, fraying, or cuts. Do not use if damaged.
  • Avoid coiling the cable too tightly, as this can stress the internal conductors.
  • Keep the cable away from excessive heat, moisture, and sharp objects.
  • Disconnect by pulling the plug, not the cable itself.
