The Faithfull Ash YD Handle is designed for DIYers and professional landscapers looking to restore their existing garden tools rather than replacing them entirely. It provides a robust, ergonomic solution for shovel repair, offering superior control through its traditional YD grip design. While this handle is built to high durability standards, users should note that fitting a new handle requires some woodworking skill and patience to ensure a secure, safe taper fit.

The handle measures 710mm (28 inches) in total length.
No, this product is the wooden handle only. You will need to reuse your existing hardware or purchase new rivets/bolts.
BS3823 is a British Standard that ensures the wood has appropriate grain density and moisture content for tool handles to prevent premature breakage.
It is designed to fit most standard shovel sockets, but due to variations in manufacturing, minor manual adjustment of the taper may be required.
The handle features a natural finish. Applying a wood preservative or linseed oil is recommended to extend its lifespan in outdoor conditions.
Check if the taper is fully seated. If the socket is worn, you may need to shim the handle with thin wood veneers or use a more permanent adhesive epoxy.
Lightly sand the tapered end to better match the specific contour of your shovel head. Do not force it with heavy impacts which could crack the wood.
Installing the Faithfull Ash YD Handle requires removing the remnant of the old handle from the shovel head. You may need to drill out existing rivets to clear the socket. Once clear, insert the tapered end and use a mallet to seat it firmly. We recommend pre-drilling the handle once fitted to ensure the rivet or bolt hole aligns perfectly with the tool socket. To maintain the life of the ash wood, apply a light coat of linseed oil periodically. Avoid leaving the tool immersed in water or stored in damp, unventilated areas, as this can cause the wood to swell, shrink, or decay over time.
