The Thomas Dudley 5/8 inch Flat Tap Washer is designed for homeowners and professional plumbers seeking a reliable, long-lasting solution to prevent tap leaks. You should measure the diameter of your existing washer or the internal diameter of the tap seat. The 5/8 inch measurement is a standard size for many conventional taps.
Typically, an adjustable spanner or a pair of pliers is sufficient to remove the tap head and access the washer.
Yes, this washer is designed to withstand the heat and pressure variations common in standard household domestic water systems.
The flat side of the washer should face the tap seat to ensure maximum surface contact for a secure seal.
While there is no fixed interval, you should replace the washer as soon as you notice a persistent drip to prevent damage to the tap seat.
Check the brass tap seat for pitting or scratches. If the seat is damaged, the new washer cannot form a perfect seal.
Verify that the washer is seated correctly in the jumper valve and not obstructing the water path.
Before installation, ensure the water supply to the specific tap is turned off at the isolation valve or the main supply line. To install, disassemble the tap head gear using an adjustable wrench, remove the old, degraded washer from the jumper valve, and replace it with the new Thomas Dudley 5/8 inch washer. Ensure the seat is clean and free of debris before tightening the assembly back into place. For care, avoid over-tightening the tap handle after installation, as excessive force can deform the new washer prematurely.
