Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: Unpack the boards and wash them by hand with mild soap and warm water before their first use. Ensure they are dried thoroughly with a clean cloth.
Compatibility: These boards are compatible with all types of kitchen knives. They are suitable for general food preparation and serving.
Care Instructions:
- Hand Wash Only: Never place these wooden boards in a dishwasher, as the harsh detergents and high heat can cause the wood to warp, crack, or split.
- Clean Promptly: Wash the boards soon after use with warm water and a mild dish soap. Use a soft brush or sponge to remove food particles.
- Dry Thoroughly: After washing, immediately wipe the boards dry with a clean towel. Allow them to air dry completely in a well-ventilated area, standing them on their edge if possible to ensure even drying.
- Condition Regularly: To maintain the wood's natural oils and prevent drying, condition the boards with a food-grade mineral oil or a specialized wood conditioner every 1-2 months, or whenever the wood appears dry. Apply the oil generously, let it soak in for at least 30 minutes (or overnight), then wipe off any excess.
- Avoid Soaking: Do not leave the boards to soak in water for extended periods, as this can damage the wood.
- Sanitize (Optional): For occasional sanitizing, you can rub the board with a cut lemon and then rinse and dry thoroughly. A dilute vinegar solution can also be used.
