FAQs

Does this axle fit all wheelbarrows?

No, it is specifically designed for twin-wheel models requiring a 700mm x 20mm axle. You must measure your current axle to confirm compatibility.

Is the hardware included with the axle?

The product is the axle only. You should reuse your existing mounting hardware or purchase new split pins/nuts if your old ones are damaged.

Can I use this on a single-wheel barrow?

No, this axle is designed specifically for the mechanics and weight distribution of twin-wheel wheelbarrow frames.

What tools are needed for installation?

Typically, you will need a wrench or pliers to remove and replace existing retaining pins or locking nuts.

How do I measure my current axle to ensure this fits?

Remove the existing axle and measure the total length from end to end and use a caliper to ensure the diameter is exactly 20mm.

Troubleshooting

Wheels do not spin freely

Check if the axle is overtightened or if debris is caught between the wheel hub and the axle spacer. Apply light lubrication.

Axle movement inside frame brackets

Ensure that all locking pins or retaining nuts are fully tightened and that the axle is centered correctly within the frame supports.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Restores smooth mobility to heavy-duty barrows
Distributes weight evenly across two wheels
Rugged build quality suitable for professional use
Easy to install as a direct replacement component

Cons

Requires specific 20mm hub diameter compatibility
Not intended for single-wheel barrow conversions
Requires manual measurement of existing hardware before ordering

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Before installation, ensure the wheelbarrow is placed on a flat, stable surface and properly supported so that the wheels are off the ground. Remove the existing axle by loosening the mounting hardware or removing the split pins/linchpins as required by your specific barrow frame.

Compatibility Checklist:

Verify the width between your barrow frame mounting points is compatible with a 700mm axle.
Ensure your wheel hubs have a 20mm bore to accommodate the axle diameter.
Lubricate the axle with a general-purpose grease during installation to allow the wheels to rotate freely and to prevent corrosion.
Periodically check the axle for signs of bending or wear if the barrow is consistently used near its maximum load capacity.
