Setup, Compatibility & Care
Sowing: For best results, sow seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last expected frost, or sow directly into the ground from early spring. Ensure seeds are planted in firm, fertile soil enriched with well-rotted manure or compost. Spacing should allow for medium-height plants, typically 18-24 inches apart.
Soil Requirements: Clodius F1 thrives in firm, fertile soil. Digging in generous amounts of well-rotted manure or compost early in the season is highly recommended to promote good soil structure and nutrient content.
Watering: Water consistently, especially during dry periods, to ensure steady growth and prevent stress which can affect sprout development.
Pest & Disease Management: While resistant to powdery mildew and ring spot, monitor plants for any signs of stress or common brassica pests like cabbage white butterflies. Companion planting or netting can help deter pests.
Harvesting: Sprouts are typically ready for harvest from autumn through winter. Harvest from the bottom of the stalk upwards as the sprouts mature.
