No, the Maxle Ultimate is a tool-free system designed for hand-tightened operation.
Periodically clean the threads and apply a thin layer of grease to keep the movement smooth.
It refers to the axle diameter (12mm) and the frame dropout width (135mm).
Clean the frame threads of debris and apply a light layer of grease to the axle threads.

Before installation, ensure you have measured your current axle's length and thread pitch exactly, as the Rockshox Maxle Ultimate comes in various sizes (e.g., 167mm, 174mm, 182mm, 195mm). To install, thread the axle into the dropouts until it reaches the desired tension. Once snug, lift the lever head to rotate it to your preferred position, then press it back down to lock. Keep the axle threads clean and apply a small amount of bicycle-specific grease periodically to ensure smooth operation and prevent seizing.
