FAQs

What kind of nuts are best for this feeder?

This feeder is ideal for unsalted peanuts, sunflower kernels, or suet balls. Ensure the pieces are large enough not to fall through the mesh.

How often should I clean the feeder?

It is recommended to clean the feeder every two weeks to maintain hygiene and prevent disease transmission among birds. Clean more often in damp weather.

Can I use this feeder for regular birdseed mix?

This feeder is best suited for nuts and suet balls. Regular small seeds may fall through the mesh. If using a mix, ensure it contains larger components like sunflower seeds or shelled peanuts.

What is the warranty period for these feeders?

The product comes with a 12-month faulty guarantee.

How do I assemble the feeder?

The feeder requires no assembly. Simply fill it with nuts and hang it up.

What are the dimensions of each feeder?

Each feeder has a height of 27 cm and a diameter of 16 cm.

Will the green color deter birds?

No, the green color is designed to help the feeder blend into the natural garden environment, which can make birds feel more secure.

Troubleshooting

Squirrels are accessing the feeder

Ensure the feeder is hung at least 5-10 feet high and away from surfaces squirrels can jump from. Consider using a baffle above or below the feeder if it's mounted on a pole.

Feeder is not attracting birds

Try different types of nuts or suet balls. Ensure the location is safe and relatively undisturbed. Clean the feeder if it hasn't been done recently, as old, moldy food can deter birds.

Food is getting wet and moldy

Hang the feeder in a location that offers some overhead shelter from rain. Clean the feeder more frequently, especially after wet weather.

Birds are struggling to eat from the feeder

Ensure the nuts are suitable for smaller birds to peck at. Sometimes, slightly crushing larger nuts can help.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Attracts a variety of wild birds.
  • Provides essential nutrition, especially when natural food is scarce.
  • Squirrel guard helps protect the feed for birds.
  • Durable metal construction for long-term use.
  • Easy to hang and refill.

Cons

  • Primarily designed for nuts, may not be suitable for all types of birdseed.
  • The mesh design, while good for nuts, might allow smaller seeds to fall through.
  • Requires regular refilling to maintain a reliable food source.
  • Squirrels may still attempt to access the feeder, requiring vigilant placement.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

  1. Unpack the feeder.
  2. Fill the mesh tube with your preferred type of nuts (e.g., peanuts, sunflower kernels, suet balls). Ensure nuts are whole or in larger pieces to prevent them from falling through the mesh.
  3. Secure the lid or top.
  4. Use the integrated hanging loop to attach the feeder to a tree branch, hook, or bird feeding station. Choose a location that offers some shelter from strong winds and is visible for observation, while being high enough to deter ground predators.

Compatibility:

  • Food: Primarily designed for nuts. Can also accommodate suet balls or larger seeds that fit within the mesh openings.
  • Location: Compatible with most garden environments, including trees, stands, and balconies.

Care:

  • Cleaning: Clean the feeder regularly, ideally every two weeks, to prevent the spread of disease among birds. Use warm, soapy water and a brush to scrub the mesh and remove any old food residue. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry completely before refilling.
  • Maintenance: Check the feeder periodically for any damage, such as loose mesh or a broken hanging loop, and repair or replace as needed.
