The Swann 8-Channel DVR Security System is designed for homeowners and small business owners seeking a robust, reliable surveillance solution that prioritizes stability over wireless convenience. Its key benefit is the high-resolution 4K video quality coupled with advanced TrueDetect heat and motion sensing to minimize false alarms, though users should note that the system requires a wired BNC setup which necessitates running cables throughout the property.

No, the cameras connect via BNC cables. Wi-Fi is only required for the DVR to connect to your router if you wish to use the remote viewing features on your smartphone.
Yes, by downloading the Swann Security app and connecting your DVR to your home network, you can view live feeds from anywhere.
Recording time depends on the frame rate and quality settings, but it will generally loop automatically, overwriting the oldest footage when the drive is full.
Yes, the cameras have an IP66 rating, meaning they are completely dust-tight and resistant to heavy rain and snow.
The system includes an 8-channel DVR, meaning you can add up to four additional compatible wired security cameras to the system.
Verify that all BNC connections are firmly seated and that the power supply to the camera is active.
Check the DVR settings to ensure the hard drive is detected and that recording schedules are properly configured.
Adjust the sensitivity settings in the TrueDetect menu or refine the detection zones to exclude high-traffic non-relevant areas.
Installation requires mounting the dome cameras and running the included BNC cables from each camera to the central DVR unit. Ensure the DVR is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. The system is compatible with Google Assistant, allowing you to stream live footage to compatible smart displays via voice commands. For maintenance, periodically wipe the camera lenses with a soft, microfiber cloth to keep images sharp, and check the status of your hard drive via the system settings menu to ensure recordings are functioning correctly.
