Setup, Compatibility & Care

Sowing: Sow the seeds from late January to March on the surface of a good seed compost. Just cover the seeds with a thin layer of compost or vermiculite. Germination takes 10-21 days at 13-18°C (55-65°F).
Light: Do not exclude light. Sealing in a polythene bag after sowing is helpful.
Transplanting: When large enough to handle, transplant the seedlings to boxes or 7.5cm (3in) pots.
Pinching: Pinch out the growing point when the plants are about 5cm (2in) tall.
Acclimatization: When well grown, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions.
Planting Out: Plant out in late spring, 30cm (12in) apart in full sun and light, well-drained soil.
Container Plants: For container plants and hanging baskets, grow on in 7.5cm (3in) pots, cool and well ventilated, and plant up allowing each plant 10-15cm (4-6in) of space.
Establishment: Allow the plants to become established for 7-10 days before placing outdoors.
